Fascinating Facts About Blood

1. Blood is a liquid that carries nutrients throughout your body and people who study blood are called hematologists.

2. Although not everyone has a heart of gold all human blood has a very tiny amount of gold in it. 

3. Your heart is a muscle that pumps blood through your body. While the human heart is the size of a fist other creatures’ hearts range from piano-sized to smaller than a pencil point.

4. Vampires are imaginary but there are plenty of real bloodsucking animals in nature. Stay away from mosquitoes and catfish or they might feast on you.

5. Scientists have shown that a hearty laugh can make your blood flow more easily so funny jokes are actually good for your heart! 

6. Human blood is red but other animals have different colored blood. Spiders have light-blue blood and some worms have green blood.

7. Blood travels through tubes called vessels. Inside your body you have 60,000 miles of blood vessels altogether—enough to go around the Earth more than twice!
